This is the original Brewsters in Calgary, and while it remains clearly superior to most pubs/taverns in the city, it may be resting on it's laurels. I was recently (3 weeks ago) in the facility at 13:00 hours on a Sat. afternoon. Many tables had already been reserved for groups to watch the NHL playoff game that evening commencing @ 20:00 hrs. The waitress did not think it would be OK for me and my companion to sit at one of the tables (which were the best ones for watching the hockey games on in the afternoon. Finally, the bartender advised the waitress that so long as we were sitting elsewhere by 18:00 there should be no problem. To have tables reserved 7 hrs in advance is a little extreme. Also, whereas the Brewsters at Crowfoot has a daily "Feature Beer" which is available at "Happy Hour Prices" all day long, the original location does not, and staff claimed to be totally unaware of this fact. On the positive side however, the beer and food quality remains excellent, the decor is comfortable, the air conditioning is excellent(considering Alberta is one of the last bastions of smoking in public restaurants/bars in Canada, this is a majore factor concerning customer comfort. The overall Brewster ownership should send the management and staff of the original location up to Crowfoot to take lessons.

A good selection of beers. I tried the Bighorn Bitter and the Pallister Pale Ale. Both were good beers - nothing exceptional. The guy next to me at the bar was really enjoying the Blue Monk Barley Wine, although he couldn't figure out why he was hammered after only two beers (obviously an ameteur).

The frog grog was light as expected, but the red ale was weak compared to other breweries. Also, the beer needs to be a little cooler. Had a good selection of appetizers and sandwiches.

The stout and the red were not bad. The rest were tasteless with no character. I wouldn't go out of my to go back but if i were in the neighborhood..... maybe.

I went to the Brewsters in NW Calgary. Place was not crowded, food was good. I really liked the stout which had tones of vanilla chocolate and coffee.
